Exclusive Semi Annual Sale Preview – Up To 70% Off At Backcountry.com. Expires Very Soon. ![]()
Please keep in mind that when you leave Belize and are traveling internationally via air it is likely you will have to pay an exit tax. Some airlines include this tax in the airfare, however, most do not. Check with your airline provider to make sure.
If it’s not included you can expect to pay US$39.25 or BZ$78.50.
The fee includes airport and passenger fees, security fee, conservation fee and luggage screening fee. (Belize citizens and permanent residents pay US$17.50).
For Courtney and I that is a hefty $80 USD between us. And we will also need to make sure to set aside the taxi fare from Belize City to the airport. We can expect a $35-50 fare for the taxi. We need to make sure to have $135 set aside for leaving Belize. Yeouch!

Yeah, this blows. I find it hard to believe how much we’ll actually spend on logistical stuff like cabs and buses. We may be able to score a bus to the airport though. And if we’re staying on the islands first and the jungle last, we can drive the rental car up to the airport.
I can’t remember what we’ve planned. That’s why I am with Lizzy. So she can keep these things together.
Beach First, Jungle Last. Not sure how we will work that out with the car rental. We won’t have the car rental all week. When we take the water taxi back to the mainland on Wednesday Morning- we won’t be picking up a car rental at the International Airport, but we might be able to in Belize city. But when returning the car we will have to return it to where we picked it up and still have to take a cab. We need to research this and work out some more fine tuned details soon.
