Fare Alert!

DELTA
I would just like to brag. If you’ll recall from our About page, we got tickets to Belize from Delta at a deeply discounted rate. Just out of curiosity, I checked air fare today. Rates for the exact same flight have doubled! Wow. Talk about a sweet deal. We’re flying to Belize for $384.00 each from Boston Logan International. The exact same flight now sells for $840.00! What a steal!

My happy factor for the trip has just shot up a few points knowing that my impulse purchase has paid off two-fold* already!

*this calculation is subject to interpretation, of course. Had I not booked, we’d have spent $0.00. But then we wouldn’t have this great trip and awesome web site.

I’m still not sure how you managed to save money on airfare. I am dealing with the same issue. trying to fly my family from Atlanta for Christmas and finding airfare up to $950+ per person. What was your tip on getting the disount. we were thinking of delta as well, since it’s a direct from atlanta. thanks for the info. pat

    Hi. Pat.

Received your comment on belizeantravel.com. Unfortunately I have no secrets to offer. I fly 50k+ on delta per year so I always look to them first (just love to rack up those miles) and this deal was simply a combo of timing and dumb luck. I got the ticket in late April when the economy was still in limbo and I suspect that ticket prices were down. I also spent about an hour trying different dates- anything from mid august to late oct. There was a two week window where prices were best. Next weekend and the weekend of the 12th. Lizzy’s brother is getting married this weekend so…

FinAl thing is that we are going in the absolute low season. To the extent that delta strategically prices according to tourism, we capitalized on it! December is top of the tourism season so prices will be sky high.

Sorry about the tickets. $950 is VERY expensive. Go skiing instead!
