Kayaking
Sea Kayaking: Sea kayaks allow for 1-3 paddlers and give room for camping gear, food, water and other supplies. Sea kayaks are small boats with a covered deck and allow for paddling in open waters such as the ocean, bays and lakes.
In Belize, self-suppported, day excursions out on a private island and extended sea kayak trips are available. Becuase Belize is guarded by the barrier reef, the water is shallow and holds no strong tidal currents or swells of the open ocean. The water is warm and clear and allows incredible scenery of the ocean floor below. Belize is a great spot for beginner kayakers to learn.
Surf Kayaking: See sea kayaking, above.
Kayak Fishing: Fly fishing from a kayak in Belize is becoming fairly popular and makes it easier to wade out into the water and fish. It allows fisherman to fish in places they might otherwise not be able to get to. Fishing Kayaks are a little wider than your typical kayak to help with balance and prevent you from tipping over. Anchors and plantoons are also used to stabalize the kayak.
Cave Kayaking: Slickrock adventures is actually the only company that offers kayaking in the caves in Belize. Your typical cave tubing only covers a short distance due to shallow waters and slow moving water. If you choose to kayak the caves you can cover more ground and see more. This immediately caught my eye to consider as opposed to cave tubing. See sea kayaking above for typical.

WhiteWater Kayaking: Modern sit-on-top kayaks are used for white water rafting kayak trips. No experiencce is necessary for a whitewater rafting trip. Typically, birdies are plentiful to spot and iguanas bask in the sun on the banks of the river to view.
Kayak Touring: Kayak tours are led by tour guides and cover ocean, river, and cave areas. These trips are guided safely and usually include instruction to kayaking. Going with a tour guide provides informative tours where you learn more about the land and history of the area.
